Ron Etling, former educator for the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District, will lead this fun and fascinating introduction to edible and medicinal plants with an emphasis on identification and preparation, precautions and source books, followed by a brief hike around the library.

Shelley Shepard Gray writes Amish and historical romances often set in Sugarcreek, Ohio. Her novels have appeared on both the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists and have been highlighted in Time Magazine and USA Today. She’s been interviewed on NPR as well as numerous regional radio stations. Shelley will have books available for purchase and signing 30 minutes before and after the visit.

Dan Rager will present the famous railway that ran through Geauga County from 1899 to 1925. Rager's recent book details the history of the Maple Leaf Route, from steam rail to the Cleveland & Eastern and Chagrin Falls interurban railways. Books will be available for purchase at this free event.

We will explore a brief history of shipping on the Great Lakes, and the exciting life during the 18 years that the Edmund Fitzgerald sailed, often carrying record breaking loads. Her loss on November 10, 1975 still puzzles many to this day. The National Museum of the Great Lakes will present several of the prevailing theories.
